Well, let me know what you think. The trailer made me want to see it, so this may be a case of different strokes.
I also saw the original "Psycho" this weekend. My theater made a big deal about showing it in 35mm, but in this case, a better image is almost beside the point. It was low-budget and filmed on the cheap, and works just fine that way.
One more: I thoroughly enjoyed "Damsels in Distress" on DVD. This is the first Whit Stillman movie I've seen -- are the others as silly? It really tickled my funny bone.

I haven't seen DiD yet, but I did see Metropolitan, Barcelona, and The Last Days of Disco. "Silly" is not a word I'd use to describe any of them, but then again, there was a gap of many years between the first 3 and this 4th film. Perhaps Stillman found his silly bone in the interim! I would like to see it and compare for myself -- better head over to Netflix!

I saw SKYFALL and Lincoln I would recommend them both. Lincoln was a decisive history lesson on the vote for the 13th amendment of the Constitution. A tad Slow moving, but so well done!

We found one of our fave old movies Rob Roy starring Liam Neeson. (hubba hubba) Gotta love a true Scottmans, in a kilt, kickin' Arse! Great movie on location with exceptional cinematography.

A co-worker pressed "Shaun of the Dead" on me. It took me a few months to get around to watching it, but I thoroughly enjoyed myself when I finally did.

Shaun of the Dead is fun, but their next one, Hot Fuzz, is even funnier.

I'll try it then -- but it's hard to imagine a funnier premise than "Shaun."

'5 Minutes to Live' (1961) Classic B-grade crime thriller featuring a clearly hopped up Johnny Cash as a guitar slinging psychopathic killer. Nice performance by pre-Andy Ronnie Howard. Add in some vintage Vic Tayback and it's popcorn munching madness. Pass the cheese, please. Two Junior Mints

Note to Ms. Holly ... did you get a chance to watch 'Magnolia' yet? After reading your blog post about Aimee Mann's "Save Me", I got it on a 3-day loan from the library and got to watch 3 more times. It gets better with every viewing. Gotta believe that the character Melora Waters portrays was definitely developed with that song in mind.

I have it on order from Netflix. Can't wait to see it! You weren't the only reader who seemed shocked than I hadn't seen it.

Saw Benny and Joon tonight on TV. I forgot how brilliant Johnny Depp is in that, doing all these classic Buster Keaton bits. Sweet film.

Ah, yes, but Hot Fuzz has Kinks songs in it. Actually I believe Hot Fuzz and Sean of the Dead to be equally as funny. And you gotta love them for including songs from VGPS!!! I love these guys. Sean of the Dead is actually my daughters fav movie! "You got Red On Ya" is a fav line of the family. I actually saw a girl wearing a t-shirt that said this! "I commented to the fact and she burst out laughing that I knew the movie." It's quite the cult classic! See It!!!! Lefty and I saw "The Hobbit" over the weekend. All I can say is "REALLY -- this needs 3 movies to illustrate a 150 page book!" Very slow moving in parts.. too slow and drawn out for scenes that should have been a 1/3 of the time. Beautiful cinematography, amazing costumes and effects. The action scenes are well done but I couldn't wait for it to be over.
