I'm happy as a pig in poops
Last night, "American Beauty" was on TBS (even with commercial interruptions every 15 minutes and idiotic dubbings to clean up the language, it is still an extremely enjoyable film) and this evening, IFC aired "Magnolia" uninterrupted and uncut!

I saw "Look Back In Anger," with Richard Burton and Claire Bloom. (Thanks for the tip, DB ;D) I thought it was a very well done version. The acting was excellent and I loved the gritty cinematography.

I went to a Godfather party once. We had spaghetti, and drank lots of red wine. Enjoy your movies, Luis!

I watched the Barchester Chronicles. Fun to see juicy performances by Donald Pleasance, Nigel Hawthorne and a fresh faced young man, hmmmm- Alan Rickman was his name, I believe.

I tried watching "Algiers," but the amusing references to the "Cas-BAH" weren't enough to hold my interest. It's part of a set of dectective films and serials a friend gave me. There are some treasures on it, but also some things that are better left forgotten.

I was finally won over by Algiers. Take me to the Cas-BAH.

Hi, Hollyh - not many KinKs stories - I'm still in love with Ray though. I put that pic of Ray by Linda McCartney in a frame in my "office"
The Beatles are in the hallway with Green Day and My Chem ticket stubs on it (Daddy always said "Rock stars don't belong in the living room")
I saw "Reign o'er Me" the movie with Adam Sandler. Very good - great one liners "You'ld get your ass kicked at a Seger concert"

I saw "Experiment In Terror" a suspense thriller made in 1962 with Lee Remick. Blake Edwards directed, which surprised me. It had the sheen, pacing and look of something Otto Preminger might have done. It was also refreshingly free of gratuitous violence. I highly recommend it.

Saw 300 with my son. I could see how some people are really into it with all the cool visuals and all. It good for a while but by the 1 and 1/2 hour mark it was getting tiresome. I mean, how many stabbing and beheadings can a person watch? Plus the dialogue was a little on the thin side. My son ate it all up though. Maybe I'm just an old fart like I thought...

Rented The Illusionist. I was blown away! I was lured in from the first scene. Ed Norton is wonderful and Paul Giamatti is his usual brilliant self. If you didn't catch this one in theatres I highly recommend the DVD. Here's a review. www.theculturebeat.com/?p=296
