Jennifer, those are brilliant!! You must have a very calming presence if all those creatures let you get close enough for those close-ups.

those are such nice photos! thanks for posting them. i love how the little field mouse visited your tripod. p.s. you take the most wonderful shots! i've been attempting nature photography the past few years, but none of my photos are anywhere near as professional looking as yours. i'd love it if you gave me some tips on how you do it. what kind of camera do you use? your photographs are so sharp and rich. do you have an online gallery? i'd love to see it. my nature shots are here: clearblogs.com/plantlife and clearblogs.com/wildyard. Amytrip, first - thanks for the compliment. But I really think you take great shots. I especially love "the eye of the sunflower'. And the squirrel shots are awesome. As well as the white moth. Most of my shots were from a compact Sony Cybershot. It's very versatile and has a big screen to view your shots. But I also have a really nice camera that Mia bought me for Fathers day. It's a Canon EOS D30. I really didn't use it until this canoe trip. I brought the book for it along and basically learned about it on the fly. There's so many things it can do. It's really amazing. Here's a link www.dcresource.com/reviews/canon/eos_30d-review/Mia got the camera with the 28-135 mm lens for $1299. She gets great deals on electronics here. www.jr.com/As far as taking pics, with landscapes I like to take different angles and exposures. It's easier than live subjects because it doesnt move. ;D I try to do the cropping while composing the shot. Here's an example. Here's another sunrise I like. With moving subjects like that mouse (which NEVER stood still) I just kept shooting. I have a rapid fire feature on the new camera but haven't used it yet. I really like your shots Amytrip and the best advice I can give is to just keep taking pics and experimenting. These new kick butt cameras are really starting to get affordable. My camera was over $4000 6 years ago. Best of luck!

Our cat, Basil, had to go into the pet hospital yesterday. He's got an abcessed tooth but he got dehydrated from the infection and now his kidneys are all screwed up. Poor old kitty...pray for him!

I will send out an SOS to all my kitty angels for assistance for Basil. Don't worry....I'm sure he will be OK.

Cats know when their time is up...they accept it a whole lot better than we humans do. Basil's been telling us to let him go for several days now -- he's in too much misery to hang in there any more. Sweet dreams to a great kitty.

Your family gave Basil a terrific life. Letting him go is a very brave and humane thing to do. Love to you, yours and Basil.

[/quote] Good Bye sweet Basil. I enjoyed many a night when you would curl up at my feet and have loud Purrrrrrrr. Never forgetting to give me a bite when you were quite finished with my affections! Sleep with the Kitty Angels now.

It's always a heartbreaker when we lose a pet. Sorry for your loss Holly. I'm sure he was a great kitty. Post more pics if you got em.
