Holly, if you say you're part Algonquin, I'll freak. I have a bit of Algonquin (specifically, Wampanoag) in me. One of my ancestors is Margaret, daughter of Quadequina. Quadequina was the brother of chief Massasoit who helped the pilgrims survive their first year. really? ? i never read that in my history school book.

Sorry franzie, I was just trying to explain the finer points of the language to you so you wouldn't be confused. Of course we can say anything darn thing we please. But that doesn't mean it would be correct. I am a tiny part Native American and so the rest of you are all newcomers and land-stealers. I am also a tiny part German so sometimes I like to pick fights. Or maybe it's that quarter of me that's Welsh -- those tough little coal miners in my past loved to brawl when they weren't singing. sorry, i guess i missunderstood something then....i didnt think that anyone could be an native american here

One of them is pinned as a sticky to the top section, but whoever did that neglected to remove it from the regular section, so it appears there too. Same thread.

One of them is designated as Announcements. I assume only the moderator/administrator can create such a type of topic. That still doesn't explain why there is a second one below :-) .

Can't explain why they don't answer emails but, from having seen the 'Announcements' function used on other boards, can explain this.
Announcements appear at the top of ALL sub-boards within a board so, if the admin here decided to keep this general board as 'General' and create new sub-boards (e.g. 'The Kinks', 'News', 'Fan Club', 'Solo work' etc.), any announcement threads would also appear at the top of all those new sub-boards too, not just the one on which they were originally posted. This is so members and guests who may only read one sub-board would still be aware of what the people who run this place feel are the most important topics.
As there is only the one board here at the moment, pinning the 'Board Improvements' and 'Fan Club Meeting 2006' threads may have sufficed but maybe the admin wanted the word 'announcement' in red to draw attention to the topics.
