DB
I have no plans to leave Ray's forum, that was my first introduction to some really cool people who happened to like the same band as me. It is impossible to get along with everyone, however, the crap that is going on over there right now is the complete opposite of what the site was like when I first joined. I remember thinking how super nice people were, even when the disagreed with you. I think I am looking to do, is stay clear of the Ray's forum for right now and let everything blow over. It does not seem like its heading in a good direction. I understand people with disagree, but right now it seems like its turning into a battle zone with no easy resolution.
I hope you post on both sites, I really like your posts and points of view. The forum is just like the kinks, full of dysfunction and good intentions.
Peace out

Well said, oh-so-aptly-named nottakingsides!!
I will still check in at the other place and post when inspired. I have sworn off replying to the Gogmeister's posts . . . but I can't help but read them, and they raise my blood pressure.
I have no gripe with Dave's original comment. And from sit, eat, laugh's comment, can we infer that RFG is in fact the self-promoting drunk to whom Dave was referring? That's what I thought all along, and it seemed bizarre that everyone assumed it was Frank.
I think we've always been a tolerant group of people. I'm always willing to assume that somebody has personal problems when they post anything unpleasant, and I'm willing to forgive them for it. But if Martin is in a so-called official capacity, and I can't trust him to fulfill that capacity responsibly, then I don't feel entirely comfortable in that environment. If he had the health of the forum in mind, he'd have tried to rein in rfg instead of egging him on. So I'm wary.
And the RDF used to be my safe place. I've had personal problems too, and I fled to the board to escape them. Now I can't do that. That's what makes me sad.

I don't really think the intention is to exclude people. I do think it will happen though, maybe I'm wrong. Nonetheless it makes me sad and bothers me. Perhaps, it is the same feeling, albeit caused by something different, you guys have about the situation with Martin and RG. The main reason I posted was because as a "regular" at the other forum, I feel that I know some of you, and because I do know I care about you guys. I don't know how much or if I will participate and I wanted you to know that. That's all, not because I want to cause trouble. I think there's only one person we want to exclude, DB! And personally I think the so-called administrator over there should have done that for us, when it was clear he was making people unhappy. I know other people have been banned when they caused controversy -- so why not rfg? I think everybody has to find their own balance between the two boards. For the time being, I'll be on both; or rather, all three!!

Some very good thoughtful posts. RFG is a nuisance and he will go away. We should probably ask politely and he will likely agree--though he may come back at a future date. I have some sympathy for Martin--it seems like he went through a bad time as did Dave. It's true we don't need for him to air his dirty laundry in public--especially on Ray's site. But I doubt that he will continue to rant against Ray. He seems like a sensible guy.
I know that I'm not in the majority, but I think we've blown this way out of proportion and it's made matters worse. Yes, it's unpleasant and unnecessary. But things have not ground to a halt. Just my 2 cents.
I'd rather contribute to keeping the other board afloat and I'd prefer not to be divided between 2 boards. Of course, that's a personal decision that I will make.
Peace

Dave very well may have been referring to RFG in his post and not Frank L. I don't know. I think its the chimay that made me think F.L. lol Btw..Dave has banned RG from is board at least once in the past, I think.
But anyway, you seem like a nice lot over here. Have fun! Cheers!

Remember! Martin is blood. He'll return to the fold. Allow him his temporary insanity; he'll 'come to' eventually.
Goggins, um... not so much.

Martin's use of the board as a vendetta against Ray bothers me far more than the poison Goggin is spewing. If we got rid of Goggin, we would still be supporting a board that, at its core, is hostile to Ray. I don't feel good about doing that.

I don't really have anything to say that I didn't already say. Martin doesn't exercise any editorial control over the board. In fact, we would not hear from him for months at a time. So I don't see the board as hostile to Ray unless we suddenly turn on Ray. For the most part, Martin's duties are very minimal.
I tried to do what I can to hold things together. Now I'm merely bored and frustrated. I'm also very busy at work. I think the thing to do would be just to let things play themselves out and see where the chips may fall. There is now a new Ray Davies forum as well on proboards. It's a little bit ridiculous at this point in time.

G12 has started a thread on the other board asking why people are leaving. I answered, stating the reasons I already have. Although I may go to the other board to wish someone a happy birthday, etc., I have put my comfy chair in this spot. What a tough decision it has been.

I presumed that the other 'new' board has been set up by Tom and Mia. Am I wrong?

It remains a mystery, but that site has a chat room built into it. wakeup and I and blamo were there this morning having a gas. We should utilize this feature on that site.
