Thanks for the links -- and welcome dreamer!
I thought Ray's voice sounded a teensy bit ragged. Paul Schaffer was a hoot. He usually doesn't sing, does he? Dave remarked on it with surprise. And at the end Dave did get Dav-izz right!
Earlier in the show Dave was talking to Randy Jackson (who he?) about music and said "When I was a kid there was the Beach Boys, and the Beatles, and the Rolling Stones -- and that was it. Oh, and Motown." I nearly punched the TV. Couldn't he even have remembered to mention the Kinks on the night when Ray was his musical guest?

maybe this is why RAY seemed a bit peeved as dreamer mentioned?? I am so sick of The Kinks & RAY being over-looked, under-valued and otherwise taken for granted!

On my way home from work, the oldies/classic rock station had this intro thing going: What was it like to be like the younger brothers to the Beatles, the Rolling Stones? To always be in the shadow of the bigger stars? That was the Kinks and while some of bigger names disbanded by the 70's, the Kinks kept going for another 20 years. We are the only radio station that understands the Kinks. Then, of course, you hear Lola. With the first line, I hoped it was the Kinks. I hoped the song would be something like Sunny Afternoon or Waterloo Sunset, but I figured it would be Lola.

Yeah and how about the discussion on how you make money by writing? Couldn't he have mentioned that their musical guest was known as one of the best writers of the rock genre? hollyh - I think you have all the right components to be a US Soccer fan. It's sort of like being a Kinks fan.
