FROM FT.COM (Financial Times-UK) Ray Davies
Working Man's CaféV2 *** Should we fetch Ray Davies his pipe and slippers? On his second solo album, the former Kink gripes about globalisation ("Vietnam Cowboys"), feels inept at the internet ("No One Listen") and misses his old muckers ("Working Man's Café"). His codgery persona is witty and self-aware - and the spiky "You're Asking Me" and sentimental "Imaginary Man" remind you why he inspired Blur to reinvent Britpop - but he can sound like the relative whose stories all begin with "in my day...". Share a cuppa, if you can spare the time. This one gave me a giggle...and just for the record...I'LL DO ALL THE FETCHING THAT'S REQUIRED ROUND HERE!

I got it, I FINALLY freaking got it. I love it
I like Imaginary Man, Vietnam Cowboy and the very last song which name escapes me. I met some girlfriends for drinks (longest birthday celebration in history) and listened there and back, really good. YEAH

Oh, yeah, "The Real World." That's a KILLER. It took me several listens before I could properly appreciate it it, though -- by the time ya reach track 12 you're so blown away by all that's come before...

If only we'd known each other then!! We could've shared a flat and gazed on Waterloo Sunset all the time.
