Just watched the video to "Through My Window" and apart from the his 2 singles this is the first track I have heard from Dave's solo work and I am very impressed. For the first minute I wasn't sure if i liked it, didn't really like the way he sang "through my window" but as the song progressed I got to like it more and more. I have just been looking on Amazon and I never realized how many solo albums he had released. Any recommendations on which one to explore first please ?

I highly recommend Dave’s first three proper studio albums „AFL1-3603“ (1980), „Glamour“ (1981) and „Chosen People“ (1983). They have got something in common - a variety of catchy songs with excellent lyrics. I still listen to them and I like them a great deal.
Have a go and let us know what you think.

I mention Dave's albums - and how Colb might get the biggest kick out of them - at the bottom of this post:
The above link is a new idea I had, and just added to this post. Below is what I initially wrote before I thought of the new idea.
I agree, the first three Dave albums (the 80s trilogy) are a great place to start. That's easy for me to say, because I love the sound of those records by Dave, and much of the hard rock/new wave of that time! That's not to say that Dave sounds like other bands of that time on these albums - he is certainly doing his own thing! I simply mean that that era in general doesn't let me down, and Dave is no exception. I don't know how a fan who only likes early Kinks would react, but I like all three 80s Dave albums. But even if you don't like the first one, or the second, it'd be great if you go in order anyway, and get through all three, and let us know what you thought of each one! Enjoy!
