The Who, Paul Mccartney, Bowie, Queen ect...

I've called Phobia my favorite, and UK Jive my second favorite (or tied at first place) but the other three are not in any specific order (I don't think), because there are so many songs on all of these albums that are so special to me.
Phobia UK Jive Word of Mouth Think Visual State of Confusion

Great list showing The Kinks’ musical body of work from 1983-1993, Entertainment! To round it up I would even add, out of competition, Ray Davies‘ solo album « Return To Waterloo » from 1985. To me it’s much more a Kinks album than a Ray Davies solo effort as all the Kinks musicians gave their very share with the exception of Dave Davies. Again even more a Kinks album as Ray did not have songs handy requiring lead guitar solos. Pity that the song « Ladder Of Success » which appears in the film is not on the soundtrack.

A bit tough for me cos to be honest I only have 5 Kinks albums and have only heard these 5. Anyhow this is how I rate them up to now : 1 Arthur 2 Lola 3 The Village Green 4 Something Else 5 Face to Face Though I am sure this order will change, up to last week Arthur would be need the bottom but after a break from it i listened to it with fresh ears and loved it

Those are a great 5 albums to start with, colb. And I agree, Arthur is one of those albums that grow on you the more you listen to it. I think that's true of all the Kinks' albums. My fave is still Muswell Hillbillies, but lately I've been digging Lola more than ever.
