Here's a link to a blogpost that carries mp3s for several recent cover versions of klassick Kinks songs: chocolatebridges.blogspot.com/2007/08/live-showterdays_18.htmlIt made me think that we need a thread on here where we recommend to other fans our favorite covers of Kinks songs. I'll start with one I adore: "Days" as done by Elvis Costello on his album Kojak Variety Vol. 1. Any other candidates?

"Days" by the wonderful Kirsty Macoll has got to be worth a listen. And have you heard "Lola" by McFly?!

My favorite cover of Days is by Flo & Eddie Believe it or not, they do an amazing cover on their 2nd album that came out in the early to mid 70's...

Kirsty MacColl doing Days. I've been really getting into her of late since I have 2 cd's from our library.

Kirsty MacColl doing Days. I've been really getting into her of late since I have 2 cd's from our library. I've been wanting to hear this. I like it. Yo La Tengo and Jon Auer's "Fancy" are both good I think, though I like YLT's much better. I also like Larry Barrett's "Act Nice and Gentle". And Pretenders doing "I Go To Sleep."

I've always loved the Jam's version of "David Watts."

Yeah. One of the very few versions that are better than the original, IMO.

David Watts was made for The Jam. It really was. Has anyone ever heard a decent cover of Animal Farm?
