As simple as that.
Sometimes I get obsessed with a song, and I want to share it with everybody but I don't find a way. I'm sure the same happens to many of you. So please post any lyrics you want to share here, it can be a full song, or just a few words... Whatever you want.

Here's my first contribution: John Cale - Paris 1919
She makes me so unsure of myself Standing there but never ever talking sense Just a visitor you see So much wanting to be seen She’d open up the doors and vaguely carry us away
It’s the customary thing to say or do To a disappointed proud man in his grief And on Fridays she’d be there But on Mondays not at all Just casually appearing from the clock across the hall
You’re a ghost la la la la la la la la la You’re a ghost la la la la la la la la la I’m the church and I’ve come To claim you with my iron drum La la la la la la la la la la
The continent’s just fallen in disgrace William William William Rogers put it in it’s place Blood and tears from old Japan Caravans and lots of jam and maids of honor Singing crying singing tediously
You’re a ghost la la la la la la la la la Yes you’re a ghost la la la la la la la la la I’m the bishop and I’ve come To claim you with my iron drum La la la la la la la la la la
Efficiency efficiency they say Get to know the date and tell the time of day As the crowds begin complaining How the beaujolais is raining Down on darkened meetings on the Champs Elysee
You’re a ghost la la la la la la la la la You’re a ghost la la la la la la la la la I’m the church and I’ve come To claim you with my iron drum La la la la la la la la la la
You’re a ghost la la la la la la la la la You’re a ghost la la la la la la la la la I’m the church and I’ve come To claim you with my iron drum La la la la la la la la la la

I love that song and the whole LP!
Today It's rainy and cool. While walking the dogs in the rain, i started noticing lots of orange and red coloured leafs on the ground. ....
"breeze blows leafs of a musty colored yellow....so I sweep them in my sac."
I've had Autumn Almanac in my head, most of the day, since. I won't post the rest, cause most of us know it!

I don't know why, but I've always like this line from The Lemonheads song "Alison's Starting to Happen"
She's the puzzle piece behind the couch that made the sky complete

Snow Angel by Ron Sexsmith (It's been running through my head today.)
Strange how their love bloomed in the winter Only to vanish in the spring It never fails to make him shiver To see the outline of her wings
Where she made her last snow angel Little did they know That it’d make a lasting impression Deeper than the snow In his soul The snow angel never faded
And when love calls to make that promise The one to be faithful and be true It’s then temptation falls upon us The world turns awkward and aloof
And with this betrayal An angel descended from on high Oh, but this was not a manger And as he came inside To his fright T’was no angel hanging naked
Strange how each year ‘round late November When the first snow is on the ground She reappears so he’ll remember How a love so young can be cut down
When she made her last snow angel Little did they know That it’d make a lasting impression Deeper than the snow In his soul The snow angel never faded
In his soul Snow angel never faded
Strange how their love bloomed in the winter Only to vanish in the spring It never fails to make him shiver To see the outline of her wings
Where she made her last snow angel Little did they know That it’d make a lasting impression Deeper than the snow In his soul The snow angel never faded
And when love calls to make that promise The one to be faithful and be true It’s then temptation falls upon us The world turns awkward and aloof

Very beautiful Nicola6 (and sad), thank you very much for posting.
And very clever, Powerman.
Beatles - Girl:
Was she told when she was young that pain would lead to pleasure? Did she understand it when they said that a man must break his back to earn his day of leisure? Will she still believe it when he's dead?

Here's one of my favorite songs by Townes Van Zandt. It's the only recording where townes sings it on You Tube.
Wonerful lyrics. He was truly great.
To Live Is To Fly

I don't have time to check the rest of the topics, but I wanted to wish everybody a Good Day today (it's going to be!):
The sky is blue but there are clouds in my head, With big decisions looming ahead. The sun is out but the room is so grey, So much confusion headed my way. Get positive, try to be gay.
News of the world, tea and biscuits in bed. The headlines said that Diana is dead. She couldn't act much but she put on a show. She always smiled even when she felt low. I used to fancy her a long time ago.
So today has got to be a good day, Today is gonna be a good day, Today is gonna be a good day, Good day, good day, good day.

iMan, I was thinking about "Girl" the other day too -- brilliant song. Thanks for posting! (this is a great thread BTW)
Today I was thinking about this one:
Oliver's Army (Elvis Costello)
Don't start that talking I could talk all night My mind goes sleepwalking While I'm putting the world to right
Call careers information Have you got yourself an occupation?
Oliver's army is here to stay Oliver's army are on their way And I would rather be anywhere else But here today
There was a checkpoint Charlie He didn't crack a smile But it's no laughing party When you've been on the murder mile
Only takes one itchy trigger One more widow, one less whiteblack pero
(Chorus)
Hong Kong is up for grabs London is full of Arabs We could be in Palestine Overrun by a Chinese line With the boys from the Mersey and the Thames and the Tyne
But there's no danger It's a professional career Though it could be arranged With just a word in Mr. Churchill's ear
If you're out of luck or out of work We could send you to Johannesburg
Oliver's Army is on their way Oliver's army is here to stay And I would rather be anywhere else But here today. Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh

A Salty Dog Gary Brooker/Keith Reid
All hands on deck, weve run afloat! I heard the captain cry explore the ship, replace the cook: let no one leave alive! Across the straits, around the horn: how far can sailors fly? A twisted path, our tortured course, and no one left alive
We sailed for parts unknown to man, where ships come home to die No lofty peak, nor fortress bold, could match our captains eye Upon the seventh seasick day we made our port of call A sand so white, and sea so blue, no mortal place at all
We fired the gun, and burnt the mast, and rowed from ship to shore The captain cried, we sailors wept: our tears were tears of joy Now many moons and many junes have passed since we made land A salty dog, this seamans log: your witness my own hand

My fave Procol Harum lyrics:
I'll bathe my eyes in a river of salt I'll grow myself right up to the sky I'll sing in the forest, tear down the trees I'll foul all the fountains and trample the leaves
I'll blacken your Christmas and piss on your door You'll cry out for mercy, but still there'll be more
I'll put a blight in the orchard I'll run wild through the fields I'll waylay your daughter and kidnap your wife Savage her sexless and burn out her eyes
I'll blacken your Christmas and piss on your door You'll cry out for mercy, but still there'll be more

"Sister Don't Cry" from Collective Soul's first LP, 'Hints, Allegations and Things Left Unsaid'..
Overseas through the air Touched your heart down with care All the thoughts left behind Soon will catch you in time Well, if I could, you know I would Let salvation reign on you So, won't you push away All this pain that you've been through
Sister don't cry Sister don't cry no more Sister don't cry anymore
Sister don't cry Sister don't cry no more Sister don't cry anymore
While all the scenes shuffle 'round Let your world anchor down Pull your heart from your sleeve First react then believe You won't always get thunder To warn you of storms ahead So bury all this pain And get on with your life again
Sister don't cry Sister don't cry no more Sister don't cry anymore
Sister don't cry Sister don't cry no more Sister don't cry anymore
Conquer some serenity Lay yourself in fields of poetry Close your eyes to all you see Lay your weary head here with me
Sister don't cry Sister don't cry no more Sister dont cry anymore
Sister don't cry Sister don't cry no more Sister don't cry anymore
Sister don't cry anymore
Sister don't cry anymore
