I much prefer smaller venues too hollyh. I'm starting to venture out more and am seeing all sorts of bands nowadays. We have a lovely little theatre in Edmonton (not far from Muswell Hill) - I think it has a capacity of around 250. Lately I've been going there quite a bit. They often have 60s and 70s people playing live, and it's only a 10-15 minute drive away with ample parking. Would be great to see the Kinks there!!!!

The best was also my first and last: November 1965 at the Veteran's Memorial Auditorium in Providence, RI.
They were touring on "Get Off Of My Cloud", the hall was about 1/2 full and I was thrilled to be seeing my favorite band.
They were excellent, as far as I was concerned, and it was about $3.00, cobbled together from stray dimes and quarters, that was very well spent.
Brian wore those cool, red, wide-wale corduroy trousers he's photographed in on the cover of 'High Tide and Green Grass'. Back then, those sorts of colors weren't available locally for boys or men and anybody who dared wear something like that would pay for it, socially, one way or the other.
Less than three months later I would purchase my first Kinks LP, "Kinkdom", and would, pretty much, leave the Stones behind me.
I'm glad I was able to see and enjoy them while they were still climbing and struggling; the band they later morphed into bears little resemblence to the one that first taught me some very important musical lessons when I was 12.
Despite that, I've always had the feeling that if Jagger and I ever found occasion to sit and talk, we'd get along pretty well.
