Okay Folks, I need some help! I'm treating my sister to a Ray Davies ticket for his Seattle appearance--and I want to get her Kinks-ready.
I feel fairly well versed with the Pye, RCA, and Arista years, and have accordingly made her some Kinks collections--hits + essential tracks. It came out to be two discs for the Pye years, one for RCA, and one for Arista. Yes, at times, some tough choices were made.
*(By the way, I still can't believe they didn't put "Supersonic Rocket Ship" on the 'The Kinks Greatest: Celluloid Heroes' collection! I suppose it was part of the greatest hits curse of always leaving one big hit off. Anyway, I digress...)*
What I'm hoping for are suggestions for putting together a later-day collection to cover 'Think Visual', 'UK Jive', 'The Road' (all MCA releases) PLUS the 'Did Ya' EP, 'Phobia', and 'To the Bone'. Other non-album tracks/b-sides, etc., are viable, too.
Here's what I want to do... First, as much I enjoy 'The Road', I only want to include "The Road" (the song itself) from that release, and mayyyyyybe "It"--since these songs are exclusive to this release. The same goes for 'To the Bone'--just the exclusive songs. So that means just "Animal" and "To the Bone". The only other song that I totally want on the collection is the remake of "Days" from the 'Did Ya' EP.
So, for the record AND here's your challenge:
Put together a one-disc collection to include everything worthy of 'Think Visual' and beyond. Songs that MUST be on include: "The Road", "Days" (remake/2nd version), "Animal" and "To the Bone".
I know this'll come out to be a mostly expanded version of the 'Lost & Found' collection, but that's way-okay. Songs from that collection do not necessarily need to be on this set but they can; I expect some will absolutely make an appearance. Single releases and just plain ol' great songs are welcome! And if there was a single you never quite felt was worthy, then you don't you don't need to include it. Trust me, that's exactly how it worked out for me with both the RCA and Arista years!
I look forward to see what people come up with! THANKS!!!!

PS. If anyone can steer me into the right direction for acquiring the CD single of "To the Bone" that includes the radio edit, the stereo mix, and the demo--all of "To the Bone"--I'd be super grateful!!!!
