First a little bit of good news - thank you! Forty objections were
received to the 'landscaping' proposal and it has been withdrawn. For now.
Now for the really bad news - the developers of the gated community
have now made their full application to Camden Council and it is now 'out for
consultation'. This is the big one - can you help us stop the trucks?
With enough support, our technical and legal arguments (and a bit of media
visibility) we can help Camden reject this mad scheme before it gets
any further.
You have until 24 September to get your comments in,
so please send some today. Camden have not posted the consultation at
their website, but if you want it (it's a 38MB download) it's here
www.greenchartreuse.com/LGSCMSSeptember2007/CMSComplete.pdf
You can read more at our blog - there's ELEVEN new entries just today.
We'll try and add some pointers as we wade through it.
Please send your email to
adele.castle@camden.gov.uk
and if you'd like, please bcc it to us at
littlegreenstreet@gmail.com
Make sure you include your street address especially
if you live in Camden and make the
letter as personal to you as you can.
Camden, like all others authorities will disregard anything that looks like
bulk mail - so please don't cut and paste. Please also tell your friends
about the website and encourage them to complain about this destruction.
Just forward this mail. It only takes a minute and can make all the difference.
We *really* appreciate your help. The Council meets 'in October' to consider the application. If they let us, we'll be there to argue our case and your support
will really count at that time - hardly any proposal sees this level of objection
and that's why your emails and you telling your friends and contacts are
so important to us.
Thank you!
If you get the chance, do re-visit
www.litlegreenstreet.com
we've streamlined it, added some of the recent media coverage (including
Valerie Groves' Times piece which many of you responded to) and are even
updating our blog.
And finally, if you need reminding what the big deal is (its just a few
houses, right?) just think of this: building the thirty houses and
flats (and an underground car park) will mean that trucks will have to pass
within ONE FOOT of the front doors of every house in this 2.5m wide cobbled
street all day, six days a week for the next forty five months - almost FOUR
SOLID YEARS. To even leave our houses will require permission from
developer's banksmen! Oh, and the houses are more than two hundred years old,
are listed and filled with kids.
From all of us on Little Green Street, thanks!
