Hi all,
Like most of you, I've been a fan of the Kinks for a long long time. I grew up listening to WXRT in Chicago and they used to play lots of Kinks. I remember buying Sleepwalker and I still think there are like 5 of the best songs ever written on that album. I didn't think too much about the Kinks for a long time, then I started listening to Other People's Lives and I wasn't too thrilled at first. Then it really started sink in after a few listenings. I saw Ray perform in Austin last year and I have been (re)hooked ever since. I'm really happy to be seeing him in the news and hoping for another US tour soon. I've enjoyed reading everybody's posts up until now, and I decided it was time to register and say hi! catgrrrl

Welcome catgrrrl. They are still playing the Kinks on XRT, but not as much as they used to. You are so right, Sleepwalker is an excellent album!

Howdy, catgrrrl -- glad to have you here! It's wonderful how Ray's reignited solo career has brought so many lapsed Kinkaholics back into the fold. Once a Kinks fan, always a Kinks fan, that's what I say.

PS SURE DO LOVE THAT AVATAR OF YOURS!!!!!!!! I know!!!! I'm really rather proud of myself because I learned how to do that today! I must also add that I've also developed a new found appreciation for Dave and his guitar work. I mentioned Sleepwalker earlier because I hadn't listened to it in years. Dave's guitarwork on that album and in the 80's in general was so fantastic. I'm really sort of a hardcore punk at heart and I just love how Dave influenced that era for the Kinks. I've been going back and listening to everything I can find. Even that f**king Converse ad for Target just rocks it. Ray's new stuff still has that edge, but I always wonder what might happen to those songs if Dave got his hands on them.....

We say "HI" from the windy and frigid cold city on the lake. WELCOME AGAIN Cat! Smiley ;D I do not miss a minute in that cold-ass place. Anytime I want a bit of winter, I just get on a plane and go north! Every year I am called back for one family emergency or another in frickin february! At least I don't have to shovel my car out of the ten feet of snow left by the snowplow! On the downside here, I have to fish an occasional scorpion out of the swimming pool (ick). I listen to xrt online sometimes. god it's good to know that there are still some radio stations out there that are still sane. We should call in and request a Kinks a to z day. It's lovely to meet everyone, although I must say I know some of you already since I've been lurking for a while. It's a great board!

Oh BTW I have a question. It seems like many of you all also post to the other two boards linked on Dave Emlen's site. Should I sign up for those too, or does everything just get around to all three boards???

It's a matter of personal preference. Generally any hard info gets posted all three places -- some of us belong to those other boards so we can copy important links. Most of the "guests" you see listed on this forum's home page are folks from the other 2 boards doing the same here. No Kinks news is ever lost! The rest is just a matter of which community you're most comfortable in. The split occurred less than a year ago, and several of us post elsewhere occasionally just to be friendly with our old forum-mates on the other 2 boards. As time has passed, each board has developed its own personality. Perhaps it's fair to say that this one is the most floozie-oriented?

Since i spent a better part of the day today looking at the 50-odd pages in the Floozie thread, I'd say I'm probably pretty much at home here.
