Sad news. So soon after Bowie, too. All the young dudes...

Dale was a great human being.
All he ever wanted lately was for his beloved Mott The Hoople to reform. They did so in October 2009 celebrating the band’s 40th birthday.
Shortly before that Dale was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and was already too ill to perform at their five sold-out dates at the London Hammersmith Apollo. His parts were played by his friend, The Pretenders drummer Martin Chambers, although Dale joined the band on stage for encores.
It was exciting to see all the original five founder members again on stage after such a long time. We enjoyed the performances very much.
Mott The Hoople were a truly great talented band. They wrote Rock History! One of my all-time favourite bands!
