Hello,
I'm a fan of The Kinks, though I never chose to be.
I grew up listening to The Kinks. I knew who Victoria was before I knew we even had a king (Sweden).
I knew Waterloo Sunset was more beautiful than any sunset, before I knew what Waterloo was.
I knew Lola rhymed with Cola before I knew what Cola was.
Anyway, this is not about me. This is about my father who's got every single record The Kinks ever recorded.
My father has helped me a lot (A LOT!) and now I want to do something for him. I'm planning to take him to London (again).
He's already been to a Ray Davies concert. Even got a photo of Ray and him together - it's hung in his bedroom. This autumn I also got him tickets to the musical, which he loved.
As all Swedes I love the laid back and polite style in London - just step into a pub and you are no longer alone.
That got me thinking. There must be thousands of Kinks fans all over London. I have no idea how to reach you, so I registered here. If this is not "the place", please forward this message or let me know.
My dad always (both me and my sister have lived in London) visits some pub north of Highgate Cemetary(?), a "Kinks Pub".
So...
1. Is there any of you fans, wanna host a "Kinks tour", for me and my father in London? Very laid back, but still informative. I'd pay for it. Just having a beer with someone who knows the stories would be appreciated... If there is more than one I can buy you a round.
2. Are you Kinks fans ever meeting in that pub north of Highgate Cemetary? Seems they are dedicated to The Kinks... Guess I should have googled the name...
Anyway, I would love to have a "Kinks trip" to London this summer with my father. If you have any ideas, please PM me or mail me at mhante@yahoo.se.
If any of you think of anything else I can do for my dad in London, please let me know.
Thanks in advance!
Kind Regards
Markus
