when i want psychedelic, i reach for the Syd Barrett-days early Floyd albums...The Beatles psychedelic years...stuff like that. i'm also a sucker for classic psychedelic tunes like Journey To The Center Of The Mind (Amboy Dukes) and Paper Sun (Traffic), etc., all those kinda tunes. bands like Vanilla Fudge, etc. also, old Santana, Jimi Hendrix, etc. and of course, The Grateful Dead, The Doors, Jefferson Airplane, The Moody Blues, etc. there's just so many to choose from! i'd have to write a 50 page essay to get them all in lol these are just the ones rolling out of my mind at the moment.

Amy, all the arrtists and songs you mentioned are favorites of mine, as well.
My nephew was driving me around, the other day. He put in a cd and it was Syd Barrett.
I was very pleased!

i would be so proud! especially if he was quite young. it warms my heart to know that syd lives on in younger ears. i am still in mourning in regards to syd's passing. syd influenced my life a great deal (beyond his music) i am deeply moved by the lifestyle he led in his latter years, his artwork, etc.

Do you know much about Robyn Hitchcock, amytrip? He counts Syd as one of his main influences -- on his most recent tour with the Venus 3 they did a cover of See Emily Play which was awesome.
Robyn's pretty psychedelic himself, though he puts a folk-punk twist on it and adds lyrics worthy of Baudelaire. (He also paints fairly seriously.) Plus he's gray haired and very cute -- one thing you will discover here is that we like our rockers to be cute, aging, and British.

Yes, I was proud. He discovered Syd from sources other than myself. That fact really made me happy!
