New to the board, but have been following The Kinks since 80's, have seen Ray on the east coast every year since 2004. Tower Theater in Philly was the first show seeing Ray, and was blown away by crowd and the love for the music, the Scranton " Duck " show was perfect. Have not seen The Kinks live, but i am always holding on to the hope of seeing Ray and Dave play. I saw Dave for the first time, even though had tickets to see him at Sellersville Theater afew years ago. The power we felt form the stage during I'm Not Like Everybody Else just made it clear that The Kinks live must have been mind blowing when they were hitting on all cylinders. The point of this post is to celebrate anything Kinks and 50 years needs to be marked.
The idea of doing something for us here in the states is a great idea. Here are afew of my ideas for what should be done for the 50th and every year to celebrate Ray, Dave and the Kinks art.
East coast shows, Philly would be great. Tower Theater is good venue (Philly loves Ray), it has history and central on east coast. Cover Bands (unless someone could get Cast Off Kinks here). Show Do It Again movie or other movies such as Return to Waterloo or some live footage. Set up table in waiting area of Tower for showing or selling Kinks art or memoribilia. Consession stand would be selling Fish and Chips and other fair, Guiness beer, have tea time. Guest speakers (possibly some past road managers and fans to tell tails from the road). Dress in 60's period clothes Carnaby Street style (prize for best look). Theater decorated with Union Jacks and American flags. Two day festival, to fit in everything. The real deal would be to get Ray and Dave and Kast Offs. (at Tower or Capital Theater or the Beacon).
Thanks for listening,
God save the Kinks

Thanks! I did read a recent interview with Dave that held out some hope that he and Ray might do something for the Fiftieth.

Some great ideas here, OP. Dare I guess that you are from the Philly area? Welcome to the forum -- you are an excellent addition to our merry crew.
Wherever this event is held, it will be tough for everyone to attend who wants to. I'd love to think we could add an element of interactive live streaming with costumes, cover bands, and special rituals at every location, all happening simultaneously. No doubt the Chicago area and Atlanta and LA and Boston -- and of course NYC - would want to participate as well as Philly.
I believe that the Kast Off Kinks are prohibited from playing in the USA because Ray never approved their use of the name Kinks. I may have that wrong, but I know I've been told that they can't play over here. That's a shame, because I've seen them perform and they are brilliant. But if the Kinks really do "re-une" for the anniversary, at least some of the KOKs would be siphoned away to play with Ray and Dave anyway.
If nothing else, I'd hope that a UK Ray-Dave reunion would be simulcast over here. We need our tech guys to get on this! (Who are our tech guys, by the way?)....

I'm on board but I'm sure it would be in the uk and I'd be more than willing to jump the pond again for that. I would assume a royal Albert hall stint would be a avid choice. But who knows...
This chi town girl is up for a party in a city that hosts their reunion arrival Here hoping!!
