Welcome to the board willdockery! Thanks for filling us in on the Kinks stash at Hastings in Auburn, AL! It's nice to have someone on here from this neck of the woods!

Thanks, folks!
John, do you ever try the pickings over in Montgomery? I haven't been there in years, but there were a couple of good CD shops there back in the day...

Again, I haven't done much of that there since 09'. The last time I went, FYE in the mall and a place with a lot of records and cds at an indoor flea market were my two good spots. There is a pretty good thrift store around the Montgomery Mall out on the bypass on the right side if it is still there. My fav place used to be the Buzz but I think that one is long gone. The last time I looked, there was one on the Atlanta Hgw in a strip mall near the old Dairy Queen called Bananas (I think); if it is still there. Oz Music in T-Town is the best remaining indie sort of store that I know to go anywhere within 200 miles; but I've never checked out Columbus or Athens, GA!

Oz Music in T-Town is the best remaining indie sort of store that I know to go anywhere within 200 miles; but I've never checked out Columbus or Athens, GA! Montgomery does sound worth a visit... I considered riding out that way yesterday but wound up making another trip to Atlanta instead, which is still fairly loaded with used CD shops almost all of which held fascinating Kinks content yesterday, mostly at prices that could be considered rock bottom in this age. The first place that should be mentioned probably, if the collector is out to build a solid collection of Kinks fast and has a couple hundred bucks to spend is Decatur CD out Ponce De Leon Road headed into, surprise, Decatur. There I gazed at maybe 15 of the prime Kinks classics, all those reissued deluxe editions from a few years back, Arthur, Village Green, all those, but at around $30 a pop... And, as noted elsewhere, these are not finding their way into the used bins either rapidly or else not staying there long before getting snapped up if so. Decatur CD also had a couple of used titles, though, of the other "no frills" Kinks CD reissues at very affordable prices, possibly because the deluxe editions have rendered them far less desirable, since although pricey, "new" deluxe editions seem to be worth every penny. Ah, this ran on a bit long for my intended descriptions of the Atlanta scene on new and used Kinks, but those who are familiar with this run, Criminal Records, Book Nook, Fantasyland, Wuxtry and Wax-N-Fax are all choice spot for random used Kinks finds and most of these places have lots of the old vinyl, as well. More later, need a bit of coffee...

That's a good point about the new reissues driving the old ones into the used CD shops. Though I can't imagine getting rid of any of my various versions!
Love your musical sound, by the way. Glad to have you here!

Glad to have you here! Hello Holly! I haven't been able to get back here as soon as I'd have liked to, but thanks for the welcome!
