Hi Ovi - Interesting finding you here too. I post as 'Klang' over at DM's and we are also connected through Facebook. Small musical world. Nice blog. I also agree that 'Rubber Soul' is special and the later works are important, but the early stuff is excellent too. Just a bit different. Anyway, I'll keep in touch with the blog.

Ovi, I really liked your guide on 'How To Listen To The Beatles' and will be sure to check out part three when it's available. You have a nice writing style and I liked what you wrote. I wouldn't feel right giving you advice though, since I'm not a blogger myself! Sorry that I didn't comment over there - I don't have Facebook or Twitter so wasn't sure how I could. BTW, Rubber Soul (closely followed by Revolver) is my fave Beatles album, but it wasn't the first one I bought. I didn't buy the albums in order, and if I remember correctly Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band was the first Beatles album I bought. Anyway, good luck with your further posts/reviews and do let us know when the Arthur one is up

My first Beatles album was 'The White Album', which is probably their least accessible. It took a while to get used to all the weird songs (Wild Honey Pie, Bungalow Bill, Rev. 9 etc). My favourite has always been 'Abbey Road'. Pretty soon I hope (the Arthur review). I am, however, the laziest person I know, so nothing's certain. ;D

You're welcome Ovi Hmmm... I can see how the White Album took some getting used to - especially being your first Beatles album! There are some very odd songs on it (Piggies probably being the strangest!) but some great ones too - Dear Prudence, Rocky Racoon, Yer Blues, Honey Pie, Helter Skelter - to name a few! Revolution 9 drives me mad though, I just can't listen to it, god knows what possessed them...drugs I shouldn't wonder! Yes, Abbey Road is a great album too. The only Beatles album I don't have is Let It Be, no idea why I've never bought it. I'm sure your Arthur review will be great when you get around to finishing it Do you plan on reviewing other Kinks albums?

Excellent article Ovi. I do love The Beatles earlier recordings. Taken in historical context, they were ahead of their time, and definitely lead the British Invasion. Love Me Do, in my humble opinion, was a groundbreaking song.
In addition Ive always been parrtial to the Beatles covers of other artists work: Bad Boy, Rock n Roll Music, Roll Over Beethooven, Reminiscing, Words Of Love, Slow Down, Long Tall Sally, Money, and of course Twist and Shout. I thought they were better than the originals.
Thanks for posting!

About the covers, there were indeed some great ones that even managed to give the originals a run for their money (Twist and Shout, Rock and Roll Music, Please Mr. Postman, Anna and Long Tall Sally come first to my mind), but at the same time I consider songs like Dizzy Miss Lizzy, Roll Over Beethoven, Honey Don't or A Taste Of Honey kind of weak. Only my opinion, of course. Thanks for reading it.
