Why oh why didn't they package this with "Thrillington"? They did. You just pay heavy for it. Check it. $103.99 -- yikes! IMO they should have made it a two-disk set with Ram & bonus tracks on one disk and Thrillington on the other. The way they did it, Thrillington remains in the shadows and an opportunity is lost.

Agreed, that is an atrocious price. You might as well buy Thrillington on eBay and save $5. I regret that I do not own that record. Is it really worth it?

I have it. It's OK. Kind of old school loungey. Great for elevators. Nothing one should lose sleep over by not having it. Kind of a novelty and mostly worthwhile having if one is a completist. This packaging looks like a way to hook people into shelling out a bit more for what they hope will be seen as a collectible. Got to make it somehow, with all the free downloading going on. Still, it's way too much for just this. Wait awhile and I'll bet Amazon will start blowing them out for a fraction of this price.

Also, if it's a new repackaged item, it won't have the same collectible cachet as the original. Collectors are funny about stuff like that.
I'm not a completist when it comes to Paul McCartney -- I have pretty much all of his music but some of it is simply downloaded and/or cadged from other sources. I love his music but I don't fetishize it. There's too much competition in the Beatles camp. I am a completist when it comes to a couple of other artists, however. I'm not immune to that thrill.
"Old-school loungey" and "elevator music" sound right up my alley, I have to say.

Ok, I bit. Got it on eBay for $39. Not a bad deal, considering that Amazon sellers were asking $89-$109. Better make a reservation for my favorite elevator.

Yea, I have collected all of his stuff - less one or two Fireman and orchestral things - but I seldom listen to much of it. With a very few exceptions, I'm not very entertained by his post 70's catalog. Still, The Beatles are no more, so why not get their solo works? I'm there now, except for the above mentioned items and a few Ringo albums. I'm not into completism for its own sake. I guess I hope for glimpses of the brilliance that once was. A hopeless cause, I know. But what the heck? What am I gonna buy - Bieber?

I never expected an album this good 11 years after Joey left us. I'm in heaven. (The delay was apparently due to legal battles.)

Holly, I'm jealous. Tell us what you think of "Thrillington."

I've been reading about it over on the RD forum and it sounds like it's very good! Gary, is it a short album? - I know that some of my Ramones albums are over in less then half an hour but I guess that's pretty typical for a lot of punk albums!!

Sleepy, it's not short. If I remember correctly (I always check the readout the first time I put a CD in the player), it's more than 50 minutes. There are 15 songs, and some of them run longer than they probably would have if they'd been recorded with the Ramones.
Do you already have the record that came out in '02, just a year after Joey died? It's called "Don't Worry About Me," and it's also very very good!

Thanks for the info Gary, I may have to get this! No, although I'm aware of it I don't have Don't Worry About Me, just a bunch of Ramones stuff. Do either Don't Worry... or Ya Know contain Joey's cover of Wonderful World?
