A lovely record, maybe Stamey's most consistent. Not exactly a breakup record, more a looking-back-on-a-breakup record. This year is off to a good start.

I got mine early, I guess because I'd ordered it directly from YepRoc. It came without a back cover or spine insert, but YepRoc tells me that's no mistake, it was made that way on purpose. Sitting on my CD shelf, it will look like a missing tooth in a smile.
Glad to see a couple of other Stamey fans here. He's often as mystical/spiritual as Dave, it just comes out differently.

He reminds me of Stefon on SNL.

I finally caught up with the new Ron Sexsmith and Jim James CDs. I'll listen to them tomorrow on my drive to the Kansas Silent Film Festival -- if the snow lets me.

Let me know how you like them! I've been curious, especially about the Sexsmith album. I do like both Ron and Yim.

There was so much good conversation in the car that I still haven't heard them properly. How do you like the Stamey record?

Let me know how you like them! I've been curious, especially about the Sexsmith album. I do like both Ron and Yim. First impressions: Jim very spacey, but no surprise there. Ron very simply arranged, like his duets records of several years back, but with understated horns and strings. Lyrically as always: regretful, spiritual, slightly puzzled. Just more examples of the odd, wonderful thing that is a Sexsmith song.

Sounds like a must-have! I adore Ron Sexsmith's music. And he's a deep-dyed Ray Davies fan!
