Martin, I'm amazed you dug this out ! It's impossible to find that song on a cd; I think it was on an Orral solo album/lp. This was actually a US TOP 40 song which helped Mrs. Lowe (at the time) match her hubby Nick Lowe. Carlene didn't even put it on her Hindsight 20/20 Best Of. I've seen this vid before but was surprised to see it here the very first time I checked out this thread!

Well, I'm not amazed! ;D ;D ;D The song was included on Robert's 5-song "Special Pain" EP and Mini-Cassette 1983. "I Couldn't Say No" can be found only on two CD-compilations, "Heard It On The Radio Vol. 1" and "Barry Scott Presents The Lost 45s of the 70's and the 80's Vol. 2". By consequence a real nugget!

Thanks for the cd info Martin! It seems that Carlene is ashamed of her early 80s work (post Musical Shapes) that was obviously pop oriented because she puts none of it on her comps! She did an album with Paul Carrack, with a couple of the songs ending up on his Carrack collection, but not her comps. She did one ultra 80s style video for 'Meant It For A Minute' with moussed out hair; it looked like a Michael/Janet Jackson video!
Kudos on the Hazlewood/Sinatra tune as well! He was quite the svengali, writing, arranging, and performing with Sinatra. I think their version of 'Jackson' was out at the same time as Cash/Carter's and was actually the pair's biggest hit in the US (#14). Kind of strange symmetry as I've seen Hazlewood's voice described as a 'bizarre talk singy cross between Johnny Cash and Neil Diamond'!
