Hey guys what about Big Black Smoke the ending of that song haunts me in the best way possible. Great song! Good point- it is very pleasurably haunting~!

I like all the songs by The Kinks, but when speaking of their most overlooked (by the majority) and undervalued (by those who follow the band) songs, my list would absolutely be made entirely of songs released between 1983 and 1993. Some of the most beautiful and powerful songs (by anyone!) are there, and yet these songs are largely unappreciated and ignored.

Excellent post, Entertainment! I'm so delighted that you didn't use the overused adverb "underrated". Underrated is something or somebody which/who is not good enough! And as far as I'm concerned there are only good or very good Kinks songs. The 80's and 90's were certainly a fantastic period for The Kinks providing us with powerful rock songs and beautiful ballads.

Thank you! I'm so glad there's at least one other Kinks fan here who appreciates the heart and intelligence (yes, both!) that Ray and Dave put into their songs on albums such as "Phobia"! Plus, superb musicianship from the entire band! What a combo!
