A beautiful, almost unheralded classic from Johnny Cash's stepdaughter Carlene's album 'Little Love Letters', Martin! Another country artist, Jessica Andrews, covered it and had a hit later in the 90s. Pretty good and I liked Jessica but she wasn't in the league of Carlene! I noticed that some more Carlene vids are popping back up on the tube after many were taken down! Just noticed this one by the then Mrs. (Nick) Lowe and his/her buddy Dave Edmunds! This was a cut on Carlene's 'Musical Shapes' lp from 1980 in which she was backed by Rockpile! Wow, was she hot or what! She did some crazy things that made Johnny and June (and her dad Carl Smith) blush, but she was talented beyond most of the also ran stuff out of Nashville and I know all her parents were proud of that! She cut some stuff with the wonderful, almost faceless Paul Carrack not long after this one too!

Thank you for your well-founded information, John! „Unbreakable Heart“ from Carlene Carters‘ highly acclaimed and successful album Little Love Letters (1993) was written by Tom Petty’s keyboarder Benmont Tench. The video features Benmont Tench, Albert Lee on guitar and Tom Petty’s bass player Howie Epstein to name but a few. The song catapulted Carlene definitely into the country league. Epstein produced the album which featured her big hit « Every Little Thing » which was one of the top-rated music videos of 1993. Epstein and Carter were engaged in the mid to late 1990s, but never married. It’s great to know that Carlene Carter is doing so well today. Her last record „Stronger“ (2008) is a must to have – it shows Carlene as a matured songwriter able to provide us with many more substantial songs in years to come!

Yep, it was sad about Howie's passing. Carlene had been with him for years but it seems like they had been apart before his passing; or had they gotten back together again!? I know she wandered in the wilderness for a few years after that but has gotten it back together and got happily married in recent times! I need to get that comeback album 'Stronger'; I heard it streaming one time and it sounded excellent! There was a cool video of Carlene doing Dylan's 'Trust Yourself' with Howie, Dwight Yoakam, (maybe Petty?), and Dylan himself singing backup that used to be on the tube. I have the song on a comp! I wish they'd put the vid back up!

Martin, 'Every Little Thing' was one of my fav vids of all time! Why did they take it off the tube? Here's the title track from her breakthough mainstream country record a few years earlier that includes the masterful musicianship of Albert Lee and Howie Epstein!

Thanks for posting this excellent and positive video, John! It's such a great song. Good to see Benmont, Albert and Howie!
