i finished the book today. after reading through every chapter i can say that is definetly NOT a hit piece. there are items concerning rays health that i'd never read about before; serious issues apart from the shooting and its after effects, daves health, rays and daves relationship with c hynde and there are other stories that don't paint the brothers d with a good brush ie: dave and mick, dave and pete, ray not responding to requests from paul mccartney about doing something together, same issue with bob dylan etc. most of the negative stories have been written in articles and books by john rogan (and dave) among others and are nothing new. we know that ray works hard to get the music recorded as he hears it in his head and after the screwing the kinks got in the early days, its understandable why he goes through his business deals fairly hard nosed, but i also believe that he has treated dave badly, any of us with siblings knows that it can be a trying relationship at times, especially in the pressure cooker environment that they were in.a simple family get together for those of us without those pressures can be difficult too. a good book that i recommend highly.

Thanks, Don. I agree, I'd rather read something honest than a mere puff piece. The fact that Ray and Dave aren't "perfect" adds to the humanity of their music, I believe.

its part of their charm: flaws, like we all have. its sad that they can't get along though.
