You should finally come up with reasonable and subtantial postings, sixteenagain! It’s people like you who are responsable for the forum hitting bottom. Ever considered why forumers don’t even want to post here anymore and lots of them have gone? So stop playing the part of a troll and start contributing seriously – it’ll be in the forum’s interest. You’ll make it a better place and we all will appreciate! Forumers might return.

In addition to that being a rather non-substantiated statement Martin, it is also just your opinion.
My opinion is that Facebook has hurt all the fan music forums.

Hello everybody!
It is very nice to be in this place. I am a newcomer here and really glad to have found the forum dedicated to the marvellous Kinks and both Ray and Dave Davies.
As for this thread topic I would name Rory Gallagher.

Welcome Inna! What are your favorite Kinks,Ray and Dave albums? When did you first find the Kinks? Thank you very much Uncleson! Well, it all began in my teenage years, but at that time I knew only few songs by the Kinks. "You Really Got Me" was the first one I heard I suppose and I got to like it immediately. But my fascination with the Kinks as a group started quite recently, I've been listening to them seriously for at least two years and especially devotedly for a year. And still I haven't heard each and every Kinks record yet, let alone Ray and Dave Davies' solo albums. When I am enthralled by certain album or albums it is really difficult for me to switch to something new. Though I've listened to enough of their records to tell that this is truly my kind of music. And I am excited to realise there's much more to explore! I listened to Dave Davies' "I Will Be Me" and I should admit it still has to grow on me. Well, among my favourite Kinks albums so far are "Face to Face", "Something Else by the Kinks", "The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society" , "Arthur", "Lola Versus Powerman ..", "Muswell Hillbillies", "Sleepwalker", "State of Confusion", "UK Jive", "Phobia". I am into their 1980s period at the moment.

Welcome, Inna! So nice to have you join us here! I'm glad to see you are a fan of Muswell Hillbillies and Lola V Powerman -- they are two of my favorites and have just been re-released in remastered form. Still have to get my new editions. I have been a fan since 1964, with a few interruptions.
My favorite Dave solo CD would be BUG.
I love both of Ray's solo CDs but perhaps Other People's Lives is my favorite of those, because it was that album that got Ray back on the road in the internet era, when I finally met all these wonderful Kinks fans.
Where do you live, Inna? Are there other Kinks fans around you?

Where do you live, Inna? Are there other Kinks fans around you? Hello, HollyH! Thank you very much for your warm welcome! This is really great to be here where so many devoted Kinks fans are. You must have attended the Kinks' live concerts as well as Ray's, and probably not once? I can only imagine what it was like.. I live in Novosibirsk, it is a large city in Russia, in the southwestern part of Siberia to be precise. I have some friends and acquaintances who do know Kinks, listen or have listened to their music, and I've got one friend who is definitely a real fan. And there is certainly quite a big community of those in Russia who truly love the Kinks, but sadly it is not such a big following in comparison with the number of fans of other hugely popular bands which have been the Kinks' contemporaries. And if you look at the CDs sold in our music shops (I'm talking about Novosibirsk) you will find the records by the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, etc. I even saw a CD by Wishbone Ash. However, you will hardly see any Kinks album. But! Sometimes you never know. I recently bought "Sleepwalker" in a local CD shop, but it was a mere coincidence. A shop assistant told me that the album had been there for two years (and obviously nobody bothered to buy it). So the only way in this situation is to buy the Kinks' CDs online from the Internet shops.

Rory Gallagher - an excellent choice, Inna! He certainly is/was one of the finest songwriters/guitarists. I wonder what Kinks Album of the 80's is your favourite? I think I know your friend. We met at one of Ray's concerts in 2010.

We met at one of Ray's concerts in 2010. Hello, Martin! I am terribly sorry for my answering with such a delay. I was just unable to get away from the busy week to write a proper reply. I am really happy to see your approving comment on a choice of mine, for it is nice indeed to know that Rory Gallagher is being truly appreciated and that he is not forgotten. As for my favourite Kinks' album of the 1980s, it is probably too early to define because I have not listened to all of them equally well. I know only three albums of the period in their entirety, they are "Give the People What They Want", "State of Confusion" and "UK Jive". And I keep listening to the first two over and over and cannot get enough of them. And I love certain songs from other 1980's albums by the Kinks. So, for now my favourites are "Give the People What They Want" and "State of Confusion". They are marvellous! Was Ray's concert you are talking about in England?
