A one disc set with art work by award winning designer Phil Smee and notes by Kinks fan club’s Russell Smith contains a complete selection of well know Davies compositions as well as rare mono and alternative takes from Dave’s career with the band and on his own and hopes to remind the listener of the great work done by the man.

Great info Martin ! I will add there have been Dave Kinks/solo compilations before. I have both the 31 track US release Unfinished Business: Dave Davies Kronikles 1963-1998 and the 44 track Euro release Anthology - Unfinished Business !

You're welcome! I do own Dave's "Anthology 1964-1998: Unfinished Business (1998) and "Unfinished Business: Dave Davies Kronikles 1963-1998" (1999) as well - both complementary and interesting compilations. I take that Dave's new/lost album "The Album That Time Forgot" is well worth getting.

I'm slighty confused. I just clicked on the Amazon UK link I provided to have another look at this album and the title seems to have changed to 'Hidden Treasures'. It's also being credited to the Kinks now, not just Dave - I wonder why?

Thanks for the info, Sleepwalker. You're right, Amazon UK did change the album title - but it is definitely wrong. According to my source of information the Dave Davies' album will be released either as "The Lost Album" or "The Album That Time Forgot". I'll keep you updated.

Thanks Martin I can't understand why Amazon suddenly changed the title? And Dave definately deserves the credit for the songs - he wrote them. Ray's had plently of press coverage recently, after curating Meltdown and releasing See My Friends so its nice to see the spotlight turn towards Dave ( don't tell Ray I said that! ;D )

It's also being credited to the Kinks now, not just Dave - I wonder why? Sadly Sleepy, I think the title was attributed to the Kinks for wider commercial appeal and more eyeballs doing searches for the Kinks than Dave! I also suspect the title change to make it appear to be a new title under the Kinks banner to perhaps draw a fan's attention! This new release is a lot better deal than this prior release with fewer tracks! www.amazon.com/Album-That-Never-Dave-Davies/dp/B000063L6R/ref=sr_1_8?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1313470213&sr=1-8

Sleepwalker, if the album is to be released under the new title "Hidden Treasures" then simply for commercial reasons. But I don't think it will. As you point out correctly Dave wrote the songs and therefore gets his credit. Let's see.

John, I suspect that you could be right. Its quite possible that more people do searches for the Kinks then Ray or Dave singularly By the way, I've seen the Dave Davies - Album That Never Was on Amazon UK - Its soooo expensive! Mind you it seems its cheaper on Amazon US at $99.99 (about £60.00 my currency ) compared to £308.00 on Amazon Uk ( £189.00 my currency) - and thats for a used copy! At least this new album - whatever it ends up being called - is a very reasonable price! And yes Martin - Dave definately deserves his name on this album!
