I just watched the pilot of a new drama, "The Riches, " starring Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver. It's on FX, Monday nights at 9 PM CST and it is seriously good. Excellent story, writing and acting. Check it out!

Eddy Izzard is a hoot wish I could watch He's great in this, playing a kind of modern gypsy/con man. Get the kids to record it for you. You'll love it.

Well, this is a dramatic role, and he is a very good actor. He looks quite "blokey" in this show - jeans and a beard.

Yes, "Blokey" is a word he uses. Have you seen him in "The Cat's Meow?" It's a great film about a murder on the Hearst yacht in 1924. Izzard portrays Chaplin. He doesn't do a Chaplin imitation, but manages to get to the heart of his character. It's a wonderful performance. He was also good in a small role in "Shadow of The Vampire." "Shadow" is a film junkies dream. It takes place on the set of the silent German film "Nosferatu." To add authenticity the director has hired a real vampire to play the title role, which presents some very serious problems. He may have done other films, too, but those are the ones I've seen.

Eddie is a comic genius. "Dress To Kill" played on HBO forever, and BBC America has shown some of his other performances. They've had a definite impact. I fear he is leaving comedy behind for serious roles, though. He's said that he prefers drama.

I like him and think he is very good at both comedy and drama.
