The 77's are probably considered the fathers of alternative Christian rock; making music in the 80s that's was right there in quality with the likes of The Church, Cure, Echo and the Bunnymen etc; but who could also shift into 'heavy mode' (see later when I post their cover of 'Nobody's Fault But Mine). Their Sticks and Stones album is one of my fav of the late 80s/early 90s!
This tune has a great Motown/60s girl group styled 'hey na na na' refrain!

An incredible band I discovered in the early 90's. So underrated it's criminal. Here's my favorite song by them:

Another interesting tidbit is that the members of The 77's released projects that they did not see as 'fitting' under the regular band name, under the name 7&7Is! This alias was derived from the 60s band Love and their tune '7 and 7 Is'!

Aaron 'A Train' Smith was the 77's drummer from 1984 to 1994! Smith was the drummer for The Temptations on such hits as 'Papa Was A Rollin' Stone' and also played on some Ray Charles records. Before the 77s, Smith drummed for new wavers Romeo Void.
An autographed pair of Smith's drumsticks can be found in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, right next to a pair of sticks used by Beatles drummer Ringo Starr. (from wiki)
