Yes, great band Tim! One of the greats of 90s Britpop era bands! My fav right behind Oasis! I actually introduced you to them a few years ago in a 'word of mouth' round about way. I hadn't heard them but mentioned to you that critical reviewers and astute music listeners raved about how catchy and beautiful their music was and many wondered why their friends and later 'brooding' band Coldplay caught on in American instead! You went out and started collecing their stuff and actually showcased their music to me! Emrace hits the 'Target' most every time!

Here's a gem from 2004's 'Out of Nothing' lp which 'broke' the band of sorts in the US a decade into their career with the modern rock success of 'Ashes'. Love to sing along to this one!
A Glorious Day - Embrace

Some of my fav 'Out of Nothing' tracks like 'Someday' and 'Spell It Out' are not on youtube right now; perhaps Tim can get them up? I'll go with this aforementioned swirling epic classic! Ashes - Embrace

This was the massive European hit from their last album, 'This New Day'. From first listen on a road trip, I pumped 'Target' to the ten but over time I've come to realize how subtly awesome this tune is! You also picked out my other fav from the album, 'I Can't Come Down'. Thanks for the starting this overdue thread Tim!

Nice to see an alternative to Coldplay. I like his voice better than Chris Martin's, too. The thing I've never liked about Coldplay is how same-y their songs all are -- these guys seem to have a little more range. I particularly liked "You're Not Alone."

The thing I've never liked about Coldplay is how same-y their songs all are -- these guys seem to have a little more range. I particularly liked "You're Not Alone." I've always thought this too Holly! Fact is, Embrace were before Coldplay; Coldplay used to open for them! Martin is friends with Embrace and Embrace did a song 'Gravity' that Martin wrote and Coldplay recorded in which you can see the difference in the bands. Embrace was always that band that I saw great things written about but never heard here in the States until Ashes became a modern rock hit! They are much more exuberant and uplifting than Coldplay; although I like Coldplay and think select tracks by them are excellent; as you say, their songs tend to run together and sound same-y very quickly! Embrace is a 90s contemporary of Oasis and was actually derided in some circles for being the Gallaghers little brothers!

Great band. I remember my buying their first album "Good Will Out" in 1998. It's a timeless album full of exciting songs.
