Scattered is very relevant in two ways. First, families are physically scattered all over the nation/world.
Second, it is also a very introspective song, of a person reflecting on their life, and it's various stages.
"I'm scattered here and scattered there Bits of me scattered everywhere"

Today, Lost and Found. Though its about Hurricane Andrew(?) it does describe the power of nature over us: This thing is bigger than the both of us It's gonna put us in our place We were lost and found, just in time Now we've got no time to waste They're putting up the barricades Because the hurricane is heading up this way So won't you come in from the cold and the pouring rain And the old see dog says shiver me timbers The sky's gone black And it's like the dead of winter I agree Uncleson, I take it that you are thinking of the recent earrtquake and tsunami?

I keep thinking if I had a van with speakers and I was parked next to the "March on Wall Street"crowd what a hero I would be playing some pretty obscure Kinks songs, but totally relevant for the occasion. "Money & Corruption I Am Your Man ", "Demolition", "Here Comes Flash" "Change in the Weather", "Catch Me Now I'm Falling", "Where Have All the Good Times Gone" "Stop Your Sobbing" OMG "Money Talks" "Nobody Gives" "Moneygoround" the list goes on and on! Oh yea "Well Respected Man"................

One thing I get really annoyed about is the song "Art Lover" when people say that it's about paedophilia (In fact if my memory is correct even Ray didn't go out of his way to deny that it was the case), with all the hysteria and scaremongering in the media about the subject this last few years, I would like to say that it's obvious to me that the song is about a man who's young daughter has either died, or (more likely) gone to live with her mother after a divorce and custody case, the telling line:- "she's just a substitute for what's been taken from me".

Well, to be fair, Ray left it ambiguous!
