Along the lines of all those lists in High Fidelity -- I'd love to know what YOUR Top Five are. Your favorites; don't even try to be critically objective.
Mine are:
1. Ray Davies 2. Paul McCartney 3. Elvis Costello 4. Nick Lowe 5. John Hiatt
Agree? Disagree? (Also, feel free to start other My Top Five topics!)

Gah! OK... 1. Ray Davies 2. Elvis Costello 3. Fred Eaglesmith 4. George Harrison 5. Pete Townshend Incidently, I'm like one of those magic 8-balls. Shake me up and you'll get a different answer every time.

First two are very easy. 1. Ray Davies 2. Paul McCartney But now it gets harder... 3. John Sebastian 4. John Miles 5. Steve Winwood John Lennon, Arthur Lee, Tim Finn, Pete Ham, John Fogerty, Graham Gouldman, Paul Weller, George Harrison, Rod Argent, Cat Stevens or Roger Hodgson could be there if you ask me tomorrow. But never in the place of the first two.

I would also add Elton John, Billy Joel and Cat Stevens. George Harrison would also make the cut.

Ooh, throwing in Smokey -- I like that, rose!! Not just the stuff he did with the Miracles, but the songs he penned for other Motown artists in the early days -- the man can write a song, no question about it.

Hmm, some interesting names cropping up -- Fred Eaglesmith, John Miles, Gary Brooker/Keith Reed -- looks like I've got some new artists to research. I mean if you guys like them that much, that's all the recommendation I need.

I was thinking about including Gary Brooker/Keith Reed but I didn't know which one to choose, that's why I didn't. If duets are allowed, maybe Lennon/McCartney would be my first one...

What would the world be without "MY GUY"....and for my money, one essential feat to accomplish before one dies is dancing close and smooth to "OOH, BABY, BABY" and thanks, everyone, for not throwing rotten tomatoes at me for my fifth entry!
