Saw Casino last night for the first time. It was entertaining and always good to see Joe Pesci explode on people. ;D Robert Deniro is just amazing in this too. I don't like Sharon Stone at all though and think she's miscast and just terrible in this. Still don't understand how her character could hate Robert Deniro's so much. It was a weak point for me but overall the movie is worth a look. Especially all the great insider dialogue about old Las Vegas. And you have Martin Scorcese directing so you know it can't be all bad.

Hmm...I think of 'Casino' as being among Scorcese's best, and containing Sharon's best performance on screen to date. I found it believable and intense, and her's was not a very likeable character at that. As for her relentless misuse of the DeNiro character, well, I'm afraid there are such detached and self-absorbed people in this world. Power and money attracts them. He asked for it.

I just saw Cinderella Man tonight.
I hate boxing and movies about it, but this film is a must-see.
Outstanding!

I saw the original "Cat People" last night. It was wonderfully atmospheric and dealt with complex issues. A classic that has earned its status.

Last night I stayed up until 3:30AM watching "The Aristocrats". No, it ain't the Disney movie. It's a movie about a joke that comedians tell amongst themselves and embellish it to include all sorts of horrible subjects as incest, necrophilia, bodily wastes, etc, etc, etc. It's features of a who's-who of today's comedians. When you see Bob Saget tell his version, you'll know why the Olsen Twins became a pair of freaks. Basically, it follows a group of journalists from "The Onion" decided to do a study of "the Aristocrats" joke and it many permutations. They interview dozens of comedians who relate tellings they made or ones they heard. I try to watch it whenever it's on cable (it will never, ever be able to be shown on broadcast TV) because I usually hear something I missed from previous viewings because I was laughing so hard.

I've seen the "Aristocrats, too." It took me about 10 minutes or so to get over the revulsion factor, then I thought it was quite funny. My favorite was Steve Martin.

first half of "I Want To Hold Your Hand" - silly ending and silly parts but great characters.

I watched "Sherrybaby" with Maggie Gyllenhaal. Her performance was outstanding, but it was a very difficult film to watch. Extremely sad and very real.

A '70s film called "40 Carats," about an affair between a 40 year old woman and a 22 year old man. It starred Gene Kelly and Liv Ulman. It managed to be condescending and insulting to both young and middle aged people.

Watched Wolf Creek last night. Usually the horror genre doesnt interest me much unless it's well done. Well this one is truly frightening. Set in Australia about a psycho who lives in the middle of the desert and cons tourists into getting their car fixed at his place. Then he goes Ed Gein on them.... Yikes.
