As long as certain „forumers“ log in/log off without posting anything there won’t be more voices here…
… and as long as forumers don’t step out of their comfort zone contributing neither.

Well, let's not be harsh on forumers who visit without posting. I for one am glad to see folks checking in, even if they have nothing new to add. I hope this place remains a welcoming spot to all, and a comfort zone for those who need that. I know I don't always have the energy or the time at the end of working day to do more than check in quickly.

It was sad to hear of Yogi Bera's passing. I just don't think it will ever again feel like deja vu all over again.
I was thinking about it being my 5 year anniversary and the fact there are still some forumers around from when I joined; uncleson, Martin, and Holly. Tim did post a couple months ago so he is not officially gone. I'm not sure wakeup was posting when I joined but he had been a member and has been posting a good deal in recent years. I've been wondering where he's been the last couple of months though.

Well, with the NY Yankees out of the pennant race, I'd better find a new team. Go Cubs!

Ouch! My computer needs to go to the shop. (Luckily, this time I did purchase an extended warranty --so glad I did that!) While it's gone, I'm trying to limp by on my old, slow computer. I may not be checking in so often for the next few days. It's too frustrating to have to wait so long for every task.

Holly, if you're supporting the Cubs now, you better get used to waiting a long time! They haven't won a world series in.over one hundred years! Uncleson. Life long White Sox fan.

Alas, the Cubs will have to go back to the well again.
At this point, I like both of them teams that are left in the running. They are certainly well-matched. I'll be happy to see either the Mets or the Royals take home the crown.

Sorry I could not get on the last few days using Firefox. I finally realized I should try Internet Explorer and I got on! Has anyone else had trouble logging on? It's been pretty quiet lately.

I haven't had trouble logging on, but then I usually use Internet Explorer. I also have had a work crunch coinciding with a nasty cold/flu, so I haven't had much chance to log on.

Still reeling from the recent events in Paris/Beirut/Egypt/who knows where next.
Despite its name -- Eagles of Death Metal -- the band whose concert was so tragically attacked seems to have been a fun group with a great sense of humor.
Sense of humor seems to mean nothing to these pseudo-jihadists. They simply targeted this concert as an example of the decadent Western lifestyle.
Sense of humor means everything to me.
And if that's the decadent Western lifestyle, then I'm IN.

I was just thinking that it really could have been a bad year in Paris if the 3 Americans had not stopped the gunman on the train a while back. One of those fellows ended up getting stabbed in California (I think) and another one was enrolled in the Oregon college that was attacked by a mass shooter. They got hailed as heroes in the media but I'm not sure that was a just reward or made up for what happened afterwards to them.
Tim was quite familiar with that band when I mentioned what happened. We were relieved to hear the band all survived but I found out their merch director was killed; someone who had worked for many bands such as the Black Keys and Alice in Chains. U2 was rehearsing a few miles away when that attack took place.
The attack was well planned and it appears that venue was targeted for specific jihadist political reasons in relation to the owners of the venue who had been targeted and threatened in the past and also possibly because of the band playing in Tel Aviv. Fortunately, a bomber was frisked going into the soccer stadium and was stopped from entering, detonating his bomb outside. The mass hysteria of a bomb going off might have led to further maiming and death from the chaos of folks feeling trapped. I think security was on high alert there because the French president was in attendance. As horrible as the loss of life was/is, it is the sheer terror, uncertainty and havoc it causes that is one of the insidious goals of the jihadis.
