Hi Martin Yes I was at the Steve Hackett concert, it was brilliant. See him every time he comes to Liverpool. Funnily enough just bought tickets for his concert here in Nov, never miss. He is playing the whole of Seconds Out live which will be amazing. Now if he would only play The Lamb or Foxtrot live I would die happy.

Hi Colb, I’m pleased to hear that.
Steve Hackett certainly still delivers the goods and is well worth the money. Besides being the only Genesis member carrying the torch now he might well play The Lamb or Foxtrot live in 2021?
I regretfully missed him when he played Basel in late 2019.

Do you live in Basel Martin ? I played their in 1983 at a club called "The Toten Tanz. " Not a very happy memory, our singer was black and there were people in the audience dressed in full SS uniforms, needless to say we left as soon as we had finished our shortened set. Having said that everyone we met in the rest of Switzerland were very friendly, we spent a week in Zurich and had a great time, specially as the place we played In Zurich gave us free unlimited beer for the whole week, now that must have worked out expensive, dont think they realised how much beer a group of English musicians could drink in a week

Great story, Colb, love it. SS Uniforms? Apparently a handful of irritated and lost souls then. Basel is, after all, very close to the German border. I don't live in Basel, I live in Zurich. I would have travelled of course to Basel in order to see the great Steve Hackett live. I hope he returns to Switzerland this year. He has a loyal and huge fanbase here. Beer? Love beer too every now and again. Which reminds me of the track "Alcohol" from The Kinks' "Muswell Hillbillies" album. KINKDOM is everywhere. PS: What kind of music did/do you play?

The group I was in, Personal Column, used to get compared to Squeeze and Elvis Costello, though I could never see it. We released 3 singles, signed to Stiff Records, recorded three sessions for John Peel and then, like most bands, disappeared off the face of the Earth. I guess our biggest claim to fame is that our bass player, Mark O'Toole, left us to join Frankie Goes To Hollywood and was never heard of again If you want to hear what our music was like go to You Tube and type in Personal Column Strictly Confidential you will find our appearance on the German version of Top Of The Pops, Formel Eins. Happy days

Colb, I checked out the video of Personal Column you mentioned on youtube. Quality tune. I can see the Squeeze comparison. I saw someone mention Colin Brown, which I am taking a guess is you as colb could be an acronymn?

Happy days Hi colb. I've been a forumer here for almost 10 years, although I stopped being active 4 years ago as most of my friends had left and I finally joined Facebook reluctantly. I checked out your band and I definitely see the Squeeze references, which is a great compliment in my book. Difford and Tillbrook were certainly influenced by The Kinks, and obviously The Beatles & Macca. Well, I posted a video of your band on the Power Pop Thread in Other Artists a few months ago; it used to be a thriving thread on this board. I posted a video today on there by the Grays, a power pop band led by Jason Falkner, a major Kinkophile, who was in the lauded power pop band Jellyfish. The Personal Column video would be on the prior page to that. I am making an effort to get some of the old forumers to come back but it's just this side of a pipe dream I'm sure!Anyways, I just wanted to say Hi!
