I just realised that technically I did not just hear the original version of Lonesome Train! This is the Great Cover Songs thread after all!

Here's another of those 'technical covers' by Rick Nelson! It's a tune given to him by Johnny and Dorsey Burnette who showed up one day at Rick's door offering to write songs; after having left their pioneering Rock N Roll Trio behind! The lead guitar is by James Burton, who gained his greatest fame as Elvis Presley's guitarist in the 70s. Burton is the one who earlier had provided the legendary riff on Dale Hawkin's 'Susie Q' (later covered wonderfully by CCR) and later did session work with Buffalo Springfield among others! This is probably the apex of Rick Nelson's rockabilly work! What a solo by Burton! Believe What You Say (Johnny and Dorsey Burnette) - Rick Nelson
