Almost everyday I see, hear, smell, feel, or taste something which reminds me of a song our beloved wordsmith had planted in my head a very long time ago. Ray Davies has such a way with words, an ability to paint mental pictures and capture the raw essence of nostalgia that I can only compare to Ray (also Douglas) Bradbury. I think this is Ray Davies legacy. It would be neat to keep score and document all these Ray Davies references/similes/reflections/mementos... whatever you wish to call them, all these pictures he has hung in the galleries of our minds.
When I typed the word "memento" I instantly thought of this: Memento -- As in "Scattered", with a sad man sitting by the fireplace looking at the only thing she left to remember her... a cigarette smushed out on the fireplace -- Memento
